Following the extraordinary performance with the ball, Pakistani opening batsmen gave their side a terrific start to the run chase of 220 runs against South Africans before Fast bowler Morne Morkel got 2 vital breakthroughs in his over which was the 8th over of the match. Morkel first got rid of Fakhar Zaman for 31 which was then followed by Azhar Ali who was caught at third man after the opening batsman attempted a cheeky shot which looped in the air.

Morne Morkel in the processing of grabbing 2 wickets in that gave brought his team back into the game defending a moderate total. Earlier for Pakistan Hasan Ali took 3 wickets to restrict South Africa for just 219 runs on the board. David Miller top scored for SA with 75* and he got relatively good support from Chris Morris and Kagiso Rabada who scored 28 and 26 respectively.
