Team India have been in sublime form in the longer format for quite some times now. They have secured a convincing win against Australia in 2020 and then against England at home earlier this year. It is also noteworthy that they had played against Australia without their key players as many of them were injured whereas the regular captain Virat Kohli returned home for his paternity leave as well. It was their bench strength that did well and India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara has admitted that this is the strongest ever bench he has seen as well.

“The amount of talent in the Indian circuit is humongous. Be it our bowling or batting – we have the backup for the players. The Australia series earlier this year was an example. We had so many injuries, but the backup options did well for us to win the series. Everyone in this Indian team is hungry to do well and that’s the sign of a good side,” Pujara said in a recent interview with the Times of India.

However, Cheteshwar Pujara also claimed that Team India could win a Test series in England as well for the first time after 2007 as he believes this Indian team is an all-weather team. And, they can win in any given conditions as well.

“For sure, we have the team to win in England. We have been doing well in overseas conditions recently. The confidence in the team is high. In every department of the game – our side has high-quality players and if we are able to execute our plans on the given day – the results will be in our favour against England,” concluded Cheteshwar Pujara.

However, Team India will play the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) final and a five-match Test series against England in England as well, which is starting June 18. Meanwhile, the BCCI has announced a 20-member squad for the tour. On the other hand, a second-string Indian Team will also tour Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series where they will play three ODIs and as many T20Is as well.
