Cheteshwar Pujara has been one of the most solid Test batsmen for India for the last 12 months. Though he was in and out during India’s Test season, he shut all his critics with his heroics against Australia. Pujara’s sensational efforts helped India to win their first-ever Test series Down Under, where he smacked 521 runs in four matches which features three centuries as well.
Despite rising to the success in the Test format, Pujara has not established himself in the One-Day International format. Though, he has played in the ODIs for Team India and once was seen as the solution to India’s number four conundrum. But he couldn’t transform his success in red-ball cricket to white-ball cricket.

There are next to nil chances for Pujara to make a place in the Indian squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in England and Wales. But it doesn’t bother Pujara’s dream to make into the Indian ODI team again.
Talking to the Times of India, he said “If there is an opportunity after the World Cup, I would definitely like to be a part of it. Whenever the team wants me to bat, I’ll be happy to do so.”

The veteran batsman, however, feels that the best of him is yet to come. When asked if he feels hurt when people brand him as a Test cricketer, Pujara said “Sometimes it’s difficult to accept things but I am someone who moves on. I am not worried about what people think. However, the perception is changing now. When I started scoring in the T20 format, people have started saying ‘he can do it’. I think IPL franchises will realize that soon.”
To everyone’s surprise, the 31-year-old scored a T20 hundred for Saurashtra in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. This was his maiden T20 hundred and it gave him a hope to keep faith in his game if he wants to make a comeback in the white-ball setup of India.
