The veteran Indian cricketer, Cheteshwar Pujara is one of India’s most reliable batsmen in the longest format. Over the last few years, he has been as good as Virat Kohli in Test cricket and provided the team with rock-solid stability. Whenever the team seems to be in trouble, Pujara is the man on whom they rely upon. He was magnificent on the Australian tour and played a critical helping the side win the first Test series down under.

However, despite achieving several laurels in Test cricket, Pujara’s limited-overs game has never been regarded as highly. The right-hander just featured in five ODIs for India and scored 51 runs at a strike rate of 39 and average of 10. Therefore, he was never to be in the reckoning again since 2014. However, Pujara who is probably in the best phase of his career now seems to be optimistic about a comeback soon.

Describing the same while talking to Cricket Next, Pujara said, “Not at all. If you look at my List A cricket, the way I have batted the number of runs that I have scored is very good and when I played white ball cricket for Yorkshire last season, I scored many runs. I think I had a hundred and three fifties in about four innings which shows I can play white ball cricket. And I personally have no doubt about it that I can play white ball cricket and it is something where I can get a little more exposure, if I get more opportunity then things will change.”

Pujara played 103 List-A games in his career and scored 4445 runs at an average of 54.2 and strike rate of 78 including 11 centuries.
