The cricketing community was left shaken on Wednesday after the tragic death of Jeet Rasikbhai Pabari, brother-in-law of former Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara. Jeet died by suicide at his residence in Rajkot, prompting an immediate response from the Malviyanagar Police. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body has since been sent for post-mortem examination, with standard legal procedures currently underway.

What has intensified the discussion around this heartbreaking incident is the timing. Exactly a year earlier, on 26 November 2024, Jeet’s former fiancée had lodged a rape complaint against him at Malviya Nagar Police Station.
The complaint alleged that Jeet forced physical relations under the promise of marriage, claiming the assault took place during their engagement period. The engagement was reportedly called off following the allegations. The striking coincidence of the dates has raised questions about whether the ongoing legal case played a role in Jeet’s declining mental health.

According to police sources, Jeet had been dealing with significant stress over the past year. However, officers also maintained that the definitive cause of the suicide will only be established after the post-mortem report and further inquiry.
