West Indies’ flashy batsman Chris Gayle will deny that he exposed himself to a female massage therapist in Australia during the 2015 cricket World Cup when he arrives at a court in Sydney, has launched a defamation proceeding for $1 million.

According to the reports of The Daily Mail, Gayle will be denying that he exposed himself to the masseuse in the West Indies dressing room while preparing for a game. He will also be providing the evidence on his part at the New South Wales (NSW) Supreme Court when the case is heard later in October.

The southpaw and the female massage therapist will provide their respective pieces of evidence before a jury, and Gayle is also expected to bring in teammate Dwayne Smith, who was reportedly in the dressing room when the incident allegedly took place.

Australian media houses are claiming that the allegations against Gayle are true. There defense statement read, “During the training session, whilst the majority of players were on the field, Person A entered the players’ dressing room. The plaintiff and another West Indian cricketer, Dwayne Smith, were in the dressing room. The plaintiff was wrapped in a towel.”

The reports suggest that following conversation is set to have taken place between Gayle and the woman:

Gayle: ‘What are you looking for?’

Masseuse: ‘A towel.’

Gayle: ‘Are you looking for this?’

Masseuse: ‘No.’

The defense further stated, “As the plaintiff asked Person A “Are you looking for this?” the plaintiff pulled his towel out and down and partially exposed his penis to Person A’. As Person A said “No”, she put her hand up to the plaintiff and walked out of the dressing room.”

The hearing will begin October 23. and newspaper publishers have claimed that the stories related to the female masseuse were of ‘legitimate public interest’.

Talking about the incident, Gayle has said that he has ‘has been hugely defamed and his business, personal and professional reputation has been and will be brought into public disrepute, odium, ridicule, and contempt’.

Gayle complained that such reports have defamed him after they were carried by websites in UK, Singapore as well as Barbados.
