Chris Gayle, the flamboyant former West Indies cricketer and self-proclaimed “Universe Boss,” recently shared his thoughts on several Indian players during an interaction with InsideSport. True to his charismatic style, Gayle offered candid ratings for India’s top talents, highlighting his admiration for the next generation of stars.

Topping Gayle’s list were Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill—two young batters who have made a strong impression on the global stage. Jaiswal, in particular, received high praise. “I really like him and the kind of cricketer he is,” Gayle said, giving the aggressive left-hander a glowing 9 out of 10. He mirrored the same score for Gill, who he believes is destined to become the next big thing in Indian cricket. “They’re super talented,” Chris Gayle remarked, though he held back from giving a perfect 10.

Suryakumar Yadav, India’s dynamic Mr. 360, also earned a 9, with Gayle acknowledging his innovation and fearless approach. When asked about Abhishek Sharma, Gayle described him as a “super talent” and a brilliant striker of the ball, awarding him an 8 while backing him for a bright future.

KL Rahul also received an 8, but Gayle pointed out that constant shifts in Rahul’s batting role may have impacted his form. “He’s got the talent, but his career didn’t quite blossom the way it should have,” Chris Gayle said honestly.
On Shreyas Iyer, Gayle was appreciative, calling him a “very good player.” The current Punjab Kings captain and consistent performer in domestic and international cricket earned an 8. Rishabh Pant, known for his explosive batting, was labelled “swashbuckling” by Gayle and received the same score.
