The 41-year-old is still entertaining the fans with his ferocious batting style and a similar performance was seen in the third T20I against Australia. During the knock, he also made a record of surpassing the tally of 14,000 runs in T20 cricket.
Chris Gayle is also the leading run-scorer in the T20 cricket and his recent record can be termed as a legendary achievement. This goes to show why Gayle is the best batsman in the the shortest format of the game. Earlier, Australia arrived in the Caribbean islands to play 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs. So far, the hosts are having an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series.
West Indies won the first T20I by 18 runs followed by another huge win by 56 runs in the second while they won the second game by 56 runs. The hosts were just a win away to seal the series ahead of the third T20I which took place at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia.
There were a lot of expectations from Australia to keep the series alive, however, all those expectations turned out to be disappointments. West Indies won the third T20I by 6 wickets. During the chase, in order to complete his first fifty in T20is since @016 World Cup, Chris Gayle smashed 3 consecutive sixes.
Australia posted a modest total of 141/6 in 20 overs. Moises Henriques top-scored with 33 off 29 balls. West Indies’ bowler Hayden Walsh took two wickets to his name. The highlight of the match was when Chris Gayle, as he smashed three back to back sixes to register a hat-trick.
