Chris Green banned due to illegal bowling action

Chris Green, the right arm off-break spinner has become one of the finest bowlers in the shortest format of the game across the globe. He has played for many teams in different T20 tournaments. Recently, he got an IPL contract in the IPL 2020 auction. However, he has been banned from cricket for the next three months for an illegal bowling action.

Although Chris Green was born in South Africa, he wanted to play for Australia in future. His outstanding form in the shorter format of the game in the last 12 months helped him earn the deal of Kolkata Knight Riders for 20 Lakh INR in the IPL 2020 auction.

Currently, he has been playing for Sydney Thunder. He has played an important role in the success of his team in the ongoing BBL. But Green has been ruled out from the game a couple of hours before the game. His ban has also ruled him out from the IPL in the first few weeks.

Peter Roach, Cricket Australia’s Head of Cricket Operations said that the spinner has co-operated in the matter. He also added the fact that the management will surely work with Chris Green.

“We’d like to commend Chris and the Thunder for the way they have approached this process with complete cooperation and respect. Chris undertook testing at the earliest possible time and satisfactorily replicated his bowling action in the controlled environment. We look forward to working with Chris in the coming months and conducting further testing once the suspension period has elapsed,” Peter Roach, Cricket Australia’s Head of Cricket Operations, said as quoted by cricket.com.au.

Chris Green had recently signed a six-year-long deal with Sydney Thunder in Big Bash League as well. Moreover, he has also revealed that he wanted to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup for Australia.
