South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris is all set to play for Hampshire in T20 Blast 2019. He was signed by the team on Wednesday (May 8), just a day after he was included in South Africa’s World Cup squad as a replacement for Anrich Nortje, who has been ruled out due to a thumb injury). Morris will play in July after the completion of the ICC World Cup. However, he is the first overseas player for Hampshire in this season.

Meanwhile, Chris Morris has been playing for Delhi Capitals in Indian Premier League (IPL). But the season is not going well for him. He has failed to impress with the bat as well as with the ball, especially in the death overs where he has proven to be expensive. Hence, Delhi replaced him with another player.

However, Morris shared his excitement on being selected by Hampshire for the T20 Blast.

“I’m really looking forward to joining Hampshire for the Vitality Blast. It’s an exciting tournament and it’s an exciting summer coming up, I can’t wait to get there and play at the Ageas Bowl and express what I can do,” Morris added.

“We were delighted when Chris agreed early on to join us for the season. He’s a dynamic batsman in the middle-order and a handful with the ball both up front and at the death, so he’s a great fit for us and hopefully he’ll make a big difference this summer,” said White the Director of Hampshire County Cricket.
