Chris Woakes ruled out from the Scotland ODI

29-year-old English all-rounder Chris Woakes has been ruled out from the one-off ODI against the hosts Scotland due to a thigh problem. 23-year-old Tom Curran has replaced him for that ODI.

England will play one-off ODI against Scotland on this Sunday (June 10) at The Grange Club (Edinburgh). During the recently concluded second Test between England and Pakistan at Headingley (Leeds), Woakes suffered a problem on his right thigh and has been forced to rule out from the upcoming ODI against Scotland.

Moreover, Woakes will have to go under the fitness test to prove himself fit before the beginning of the 5-match home ODI series against Australia that will begin on June 13.

The news has been confirmed through England Cricket’s official Twitter account where they posted, “Chris Woakes has been ruled out of the Scotland ODI with tightness in his right quad. He is replaced in the squad by Surrey’s Tom Curran.”

They further added, “Woakes will be assessed this week to ascertain if he’ll be fit for the Australia series.”

Tom Curran has been included in the ODI squad as a replacement of Woakes. The young cricketer has played total 8 ODIs after making his ODI debut in September, last year. Tom has picked up total 12 wickets including his best bowling figure 5/35 against Australia at Perth on January 28, 2018.

Curran recently participated in IPL 2018 where he played five matches for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and picked up total six wickets.

His younger brother, Sam Curran made his international cricket debut in the recently concluded second Test between England and Pakistan at Headingley (Leeds). The left-arm medium pacer picked up one wicket in each innings and also scored 20 runs as a left-handed batsman.

Earlier, another English all-rounder Ben Stokes has been ruled out from the Scotland ODI and the first part of the home ODI series against Australia due to a hamstring injury.
