Universe boss, Chris Gayle, has given the world immense moments to cherish. Some with his bat and other with his humor. The latter expands from on the field to off it a well. Gayle, who perhaps is the most intimidating figure with the bat in his hand is also the most ‘relaxed’ and ‘easy-going’ person in nature.
One of the funny incidents involving Gayle came in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. It was during a Group encounter between South Africa and West Indies at Delhi. South African captain, Graeme Smith, had won the toss and chosen to field. West Indies managed to score 222-10 in 47.3 overs. Darren Bravo top-scored with 73 (82). His innings was comprised of eight fours and a six.
During the second innings, Darren Sammy, captain of West Indies, called in Gayle to bowl his first over in the 16th over. The incident happened in Gayle’s third over, 20th of the innings. Just when Gayle was about to bowl, Smith was not happy with something in front of the sight screen. He moved away from facing the delivery just at the right time. Gayle, who was in his delivery stride, continued his stride till he reached Smith at the other end. The duo had a little word, which was obviously a funny one and continued with the game.
