Colin de Grandhomme’s Father Passes Away, Will Miss The ODI Series

Black Caps all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme will not be able to feature in the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies because of the sudden death of his father.

Zimbabwe-born de Grandhomme has traveled to Harare to be with his family and will be replaced in the squad by Doug Bracewell. Talking about the same, chief selector, Gavin Larsen said, “This is obviously extremely sad news for Colin and his family and we’re all thinking of them at the moment. Right now the most important thing is that Colin is with his family.”

New Zealand Cricket also revealed that they no confirmation of De Grandhomme’s return. He moved to New Zealand in 2006 and made his ODI debut in 2012 and but since last year, he has made a name for himself in the team.

Colin’s late father Laurence, who had played first-class cricket in Zimbabwe, died at the age of 61.

New Zealand team is scheduled to play three ODI and as many T20Is against the West Indies starting next Wednesday, followed by some more limited-overs matches against Pakistan.
