Former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni has been recognized as one of the greatest skippers of all-time. It can be easily guessed that after his retirement from all forms of cricket, he will be remembered as the legend of Indian cricket. He is known for his calm and calculated approach in his batting and captaincy techniques.

It hard to believe that a player like MS can get into some controversies. However, being the Indian skipper comes with its fair share of controversy – whether you like it or not and here are some controversies surrounding MS Dhoni:

1. Match-fixing allegations on Dhoni

In the IPl 2013, Mahi was for his involvement in “spot-fixing.” It was learned that Dhoni held a 15% stake in a company known as Rhiti sports that also represented Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja. It has also been believed that Dhoni supported these two players on the consistent basis as it meant more money for the company as appearance fee for playing for their teams. This would have disrupted BCCI criteria but the entire case disappeared.

2. Dhoni’s push to Mustafizur Rahaman

In 2015, during the ODI series against the Bangladesh team, Dhoni was involved in an argument with young pacer Mustafizur Rahman. The incident transpired in the second innings where Mahi wishfully banged into Rahman while taking the run. It was claimed that Rahman was deliberately blocking the batsmen’s path while running and Rohit Sharma too had proposed the same concern earlier in the innings. Rahman was agitated and had to be taken out of the field.

3. Unbelievable comments on umpiring

Soon after a match against the Mumbai Indians, Dhoni was penalized after calling an umpiring decision “horrible.” CSK’s batsman Dwayne Smith was unfairly givenLBW and Dhoni did not hold back in the post-match press conference. He did receive a fine of 10% match fee and some blame for questioning the umpire.

4. Responsible for sacking Indian greats

Many Indian cricket fans claimed that Mahi was the reason behind career shut-down of many Indian stalwarts like Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly, especially for the ODI cricket. The series against Australia in 2008, most of the players were the youngsters and Dhoni had always made the asserted that they took that decision as the seniors were slow on the field. Soon, Sehwag and Gambhir were also disappeared from the squad and many claim that MS played a crucial role in assuring that it happened.
