26-year old Corey Anderson is serving Delhi Daredevils in the true meaning of his role – ‘all-rounder’. Anderson, who bats left-handed in the middle order, bowls a decent brand of left-arm medium-fast bowling displayed another aspect of his game today.
In the match vs Gujarat Lions, Anderson got hold of an acrobatic catch at mid-off to dismiss Dinesh Karthik, who was at that point of time looking very dangerous. Following his captain Suresh Raina’s footsteps, Karthik was batting on 65 at that point of time. An innings which consisted of five fours and five sixes has put Gujarat Lions in a string position.
On the first ball of the 15th over, watching the mid-off in the circle, Karthik tried to clear the fielder on a Pat Cummins’ delivery. Just when the ball was on its way to cross the fielder, Anderson leaped in the air and grabbed a one-handed catch. The best part about the catch was his balance and the timing of his jump. A jump before or after the perfect moment would have not allowed him to grab the ball.
