Corona scare for Bengal, CAB shut down

The Cricket Association of Bengal has decided to shut down its office amid the spread of COVID-19 pandemic across the globe. The employees of CAB has been asked to work from home and take care of their health.  In their general advisory As an advisory measure, CAB ‘s joint secretary Debabrata Das has advised his employees to stay safe and take every precaution possible.  India’s apex cricketing body. BCCI has also shut down it’s headquartered office in Mumbai suspending all cricketing activities for the safety of its employees.

CAB secretary Debabrata Das said: “It is for restricting the people movement in office. Therefore, the office of the Association will remain closed from Tuesday to Saturday as a precautionary measure against the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

The Cricket Association of Bengal has asked the majority of their employees to work from home amid the Corona Virus outbreak. The functional heads of all departments can ask few of the employees to come in office only if needed.

“However, it is clarified that managers and functional heads can take a decision to get employees to report to the office as per work exigency/priorities. During this period, it would be work from home which implies that the employees must be available on phone calls, emails and any other mode of communication during working hours,” Das said.

Cricket Association of Bengal president Avishek Dalmiya commente in a statement saying, “The COVID-19 is a pandemic, and in line with advisories and directives from the WHO, both the Central Government and Government of West Bengal, we are taking precautionary measures to secure the safety and well being of members of our staff. We look forward to support from all. Take care and stay safe.”

Corona Virus outbreak has affected the sporting fraternity across the world significantly.it has lead to major sporting events like Euro 2020, Copa America being postponed or canceled. In the world of cricket, England’s tour of Sri Lanka has also been canceled. New Zealand’s team also flew back after playing a single ODI against hosts Australia inside closed doors. Pakistan was also forced to cancel its matches against Bangladesh.

In India, South Africa’s tour to India for a 3 match ODI series was also called off. India’s premier cricketing event,  the star-studded IPL , earlier set to begin on March 29 has also been rescheduled to April 15.
