Indian opener Shubman Gill was one of India’s star performers in the third ODI against Sri Lanka on Sunday, January 16 at the Greenfield Stadium in Trivandrum. He scored his second ODI hundred and went on to score 116 runs off 97 balls with 14 fours and two sixes. However, his stay in the middle came to an end soon after Kasun Rajitha dismissed him in the 34th over of the Indian innings as well And, Gill added that he missed out on the chance of getting a bigger score on a beautiful batting track in Trivandrum.
“It was disappointing when I got out in the first ODI. I was looking to go big in that match, but unfortunately, I couldn’t. In Kolkata also, we didn’t have that many runs to score. I was also disappointed after I got out in that game. So, I wanted to go big after I start. Even in this game, I felt that I left a bit of runs there and could have gone deeper,” Shubman Gill was quoted as saying in a video uploaded on BCCI’s website.

After Rohit Sharma got out, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli added 131 runs for the second wicket in 18.2 overs as well.

“When I was batting, you told me that it was my time to get a big score. After you came in, you changed the rhythm. I was keeping a lot of things in mind,” Shubman Gill further added.

However, after Gill got out, Virat Kohli notched up a century off 85 balls and stayed unbeaten on 166 off 110 balls. And, later, Team India went on to win the match by 317 runs after bowling Sri Lanka out for 73 in 22 overs as well.
