The ball-tampering scandal is still making the ripples in the Australian Cricket. It all began in the third Test between Australia and South Africa at Newlands where the Australian opener Cameron Bancroft was seen polishing the ball with sandpaper. he and his captain Steve Smith later that day confessed to the illegal move.

The issue was taken up and the social media went into the turmoil. Australian board investigated and handed severe bans to the trio of Cameron Bancroft, Steve Smith and David Warner. The head coach Darren Lehmann also resigned citing the pressure mounted on him.

This also enforced Cricket Australia into setting up two concurrent reviews – one being an independent look into Cricket Australia and the other examining the culture of the men’s team, which will consist of a panel of former and current cricketer plus the recently appointed coach Justin Langer.

Bob Every was due to finish his three-year term in October 2018. It is speculated that Every was unhappy with a few aspects of the reviews. “Bob has served on the CA Board for more than two and a half years and has made a valuable contribution over that time,” David Peever, CA chairman, said on Monday. “Bob served on the MOU sub-committee for the most recent negotiations with the Australian Cricketers’ Association, CA’s Audit and Risk Committee and was an active contributor to Board discussions.

“On behalf of Cricket Australia and Australian cricket, I thank him for his service and wish him well for the future,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mark Taylor said, “I still think Steve Smith can captain Australia. Steve Smith to me, and everyone wants to label people, is not a cheat. Steve Smith was guilty of negligence in my opinion.

“He saw something going on and he didn’t stamp it out,” he added. That’s a mistake of negligence. “He’s not a cheat, he’s a very good person.”
