David Peever has been re-appointed as Cricket Australia‘s Chairman for a span of another three years at the board’s AGM, on Thursday (October 25). His appointment comes in the wake of question marks over whether there has been a delay with regard to making the findings of the review into the culture of Australian cricket fans.

Earlier this year in Cape Town, Australian cricket was hit by the ball-tampering scandal, with the trio of David Warner, Steven Smith and Cameron Bancroft getting banned for varying lengths. As a result, CA set up a panel headed by Simon Longstaff, Executive Director of the Sydney-based Ethics Centre, to review corporate culture as well on-field culture.

The results of the findings will be publicized public next Monday (October 30). CA’s state association heads, though, were allowed to go through the independent cultural reviews after Peever was re-elected as the chairman. Talking about the same, President Greg Dyer said, “The ACA’s submission to the Longstaff Review raised concerns with the lack of transparency and accountability at the leadership level at CA. The ACA believes that the CA Board has missed an opportunity to have the results of this review understood and contested prior to this meeting.”

On his part, Peever said in a press conference that “there has been no delay” in releasing the findings. He said, “The review has been undertaken voluntarily and it is completely independent, so again we are going to use that as a platform and basis to make cricket even stronger. We are briefing key constituents ahead of Monday, so we will be having meetings today with the state and territory chairman and CEOs.”

Meanwhile, Kevin Roberts, who recently served as Cricket Australia’s director, will officially be replacing James Sutherland as the new CEO. Roberts is a former first-class cricketer and also was a key “negotiator” in the pay dispute. On the other hand, Dr Lachlan Henderson, and Michael Kasprowicz were re-elected as directors, with Paul Green replacing the outgoing Tony Harrison.
