In a heartfelt gesture of solidarity, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) extended their support to the Indian armed forces following the indefinite suspension of IPL 2025 due to mounting tensions between India and Pakistan. Taking to Instagram, CSK posted a patriotic message that read, “Courage in every step. Pride in every heartbeat. Saluting our armed forces!”—a sentiment echoed across the cricketing fraternity.

The suspension comes in the wake of Pakistan’s aerial attacks on Thursday, targeting military installations in Jammu and areas near the western border. The strike, carried out using drones and missiles, triggered widespread blackouts and air raid sirens across Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan. The Indian defense forces responded swiftly, and the situation quickly escalated into a national security concern.

India’s cricketing icon Rohit Sharma also voiced his support on X, praising the resilience of the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy. “With every moment and decision, I feel very proud of our Indian Army, Airforce, and Navy. Our soldiers are standing strong for our nation,” he wrote, while also cautioning the public to stay away from misinformation during these tense times.

“We stand in solidarity with and salute our armed forces for fiercely protecting our country in these difficult times. We are forever indebted to our heroes for their unwavering bravery and heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifices they and their families make for our great nation. Jai Hind,” Virat Kohli wrote on a post on his Instagram account.

Jasprit Bumrah took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his gratitude to the Indian armed forces. His post read,” Grateful to our armed forces for their courage and bravery. We salute them and remain forever in their debt for everything that they do to keep us safe”.

The tipping point for the tournament came when the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was abruptly called off midway, following security alerts linked to air raid warnings in nearby cities like Jammu and Pathankot.

“It doesn’t look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war,” a senior BCCI official told PTI, confirming the league’s suspension, which was originally scheduled to conclude on May 25 in Kolkata.
