Veteran Bangladesh batter Mominul Haque opined on his batting after getting out for 50 on Day 3 in Rawalpindi where they did well to push back with the bat after Pakistan posted 448/6 in the first innings as well. However, Mominul was going strong in the morning along with Shadman Islam, but he fell early after Lunch, for scoring 50 as well. And, at the end of Day 3, Bangladesh still trail by 132 runs where Mushfiqur Rahim (55*) and Litton Das (52*) are in the middle. Mominul also said that Bangladesh weren’t looking too far ahead now.

“As a senior player who has played a lot of Tests, I shouldn’t have got just a fifty. I should get more. I think it is a crime to get out for fifty,” Mominul said. “We are just batting normally. We didn’t take on a big plan for 500 or 600. We have a simple plan. We are taking it every hour. I think Pakistan also batted really well to get 448 runs. The wicket was a bit here and there in the first innings. Definitely, tomorrow’s first session will be crucial. If we don’t lose any wickets in the first hour, it will be better for us.”

However, Mominul also commented on Pakistan’s pace attack, particularly on this flat pitch where Shaheen Afridi was not much effective.

“Pakistan has four pace bowlers. You can’t judge one bowler (Shaheen Afridi remaining wicket less). All of them are good in their line and length,” Mominul said. “I think spinners might get some turn and bounce. Pace bowlers will also get some help.”

Mominul also backed Shakib Al Hasan, who fell for just 15 off 16 balls.

“I don’t think it is a weakness. Great players can get out in the first 20 balls. They can be nervous. I don’t think it is a big issue. I am hopeful he (Shakib) will come back strongly,” Mominul said.
