Western Australia hosted India for the 2nd practice match in Perth on Thursday (October 13). After winning the first game, India was eyeing another win over the hosts and thinking of entering the T20 World Cup with back-to-back wins. Barring Virat Kohli, the rest of the 13 players featured in at least one practice match.

The former Indian skipper was rested for the first game played on Monday (October 10) and he is once again on the bench. The team management is probably giving him enough rest before he walks into the playing XI for the warm-up matches.

Even though Virat Kohli wasn’t part of the playing XI, he still played his part in the fixture and came out to the field. The veteran batsman was fielding at the long-off and the fans got to see him live. Some fans captured Kohli’s fielding on their phones and have shared it on social media.

Apart from Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal also warmed the bench. Suryakumar scored a half-century in the first match while Chahal scalped a couple of wickets in the fixture. Apart from making 2 changes in the playing XI, there was also a change in the leadership group.

KL Rahul, who will be assisting Rohit Sharma in the T20 World Cup, was leading the side in the 2nd practice. Rohit is part of the playing XI but is playing as a specialist batter. He and Rahul might open the innings in the chase to the target of 169. With no Suryakumar and Kohli in the middle, the chase of 169 was a tough one for India.

R Ashwin shone with the ball and scalped 3 wickets in one over. Harshal Patel also played his part and only conceded 27 runs while taking 2 wickets in the fixture. Arshdeep Singh scalped an early wicket in his 3-over spell.
