After winning the toss, SRH skipper, Kane Williamson expectedly choose to bowl and he confirmed that Jagadeesha Suchith will take place of Washington Sunda, who has a slight niggle. KKR, on the other hand, made three changes — Aaron Finch, Aman Khan, Sheldon Jackson in for Sam Billings, Ajinkya Rahane, and Rasikh Salam. Finch and Venkatesh Iyer opened the batting for KKR but both were dismissed in the powerplay itself.

Soon after the powerplay, Umran Malik was bowling the 10th over of the game and bowled yorker at 148.8kph and shattered the stumps of KKR skipper, Shreyas Iyer. Perfect response from Malik to the batter moving all around the crease. Iyer was moving in the crease and Malike perfected his yorker in the blockhole and got a priced wicket. Interestingly, Maliks has a weird field  setting for Shreyas as none of the fielders were in front outside the 30-yard circle.
