West Indies have just played against South Africa in a five-match T20I series. The series has turned interesting after West Indies won the 4th match to draw the series 2-2. But South Africa sealed the deal with a win in the final game where they won the toss and put up a score of 168 runs at the loss of 4 wickets. But umpiring left everyone surprised, including Dale Steyn.

Fidel Edwards claimed 2 wickets as West Indies bowlers failed to create any pressure on the South Africa batsmen as well. While chasing, West Indies got off to a great start but lost the match by 25 runs as they could only manage 143 runs with the loss of 9 wickets. Ngidi and Rabada were brilliant as they took crucial wickets and helped South Africa win.

Meanwhile, a shocking umpiring decision left many shocked. The incident happened in the last ball of the first innings when Wiaan Mulder was facing Obed McCoy. Mulder was batting at 7 runs from 5 walls and McCoy bowled a bouncer which went down the leg side. Mulder tried to hit the bowler but was beaten by the pace as well. While it was clearly a wide delivery umpire didn’t give that and even the third umpire too did not interfere.

Apart from Dale Steyn, AB de Villiers and Albie Morkel too commented:

Meanwhile, recently, Dale Steyn opened up on his performance. “When I was in my first academy year after school, I had a bad hamstring injury. So about six months, I didn’t really bowl. So, I decided I was going to bat. I batted at number three and ended up getting Batsman-of-the-Year at my academy. I mean it’s ridiculous. And then I went to Pretoria to join the Titans,” Steyn told Sanjay Manjrekar in an interaction on ESPN Cricinfo.

“When I got there, I met Faf (du Plessis), AB (de Villiers). Then I started to rub shoulders with Alviro Pietersen. I quickly realized that I was a decent batter but these guys were batsmen. And, I thought if I am even going to play for South Africa or for Titans, I need to focus primarily on my bowling. I little bit regret it right now because I think I could have averaged closer to 20 and who knows gone for more money in the IPL if I was a better all-rounder like Chris Morris,” he added.
