Former New Zealand skipper, Daniel Vettori has come up with three names for India’s frontline pacers to be part of the T20 World Cup 2022 squad in Australia. Team India will be hosting South Africa for five T20Is in June. The series will begin just 10 days after the conclusion of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The five-match T20I series will be resuming India’s roadmap for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia in the October-November period. With too many options available at India’s disposal, the competition amongst the players will be stiff to be part of the 15-member squad.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya, and Shardul Thakur were India’s pace bowling options in the last edition in UAE. Apart from the aforementioned bowlers, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, T Natarajan, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, and Deepak Chahar will be on the radar of the Indian selectors for the flight to Australia.
Daniel Vettori named Bumrah, Harshal, and Shami as the first three choices in India’s pace battery for the mega event.
During a recent conversation with ESPNCricinfo, Daniel Vettori said, “I think (Jasprit) Bumrah and Harshal Patel have to be in the team, just because of their death bowling and what they bring to the table. Harshal can bowl through those middle stages.”

He further added, “The third seamer is tough to pick but I think (Mohammed) Shami is potentially clearing out because of his ability to take wickets in that powerplay, bowl aggressively through the middle stages, and with the back end taken care of with Patel and Bumrah.”
India will be featuring in the group of Pakistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh in the Group 2 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The men in blue couldn’t make it through the group stage last time as they lost their first two fixtures to Pakistan and New Zealand and finished third on the table with six points.
