Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has said that Team India’s young pacer Umran Malik’s bowling will get better as he plays more matches in international cricket. While speaking on his YouTube channel, he stated that while Umran has the pace, he still needs to work on his line and length. Kaneria also opened up on his bowling, saying that he is quite wayward and lacks control. However, he suggested that Malik would get better under the guidance of Team India’s coaching staff.

He stated: “Umran Malik bowls very fast, but he has a long way to go as he is quite wayward. He will improve as he plays more matches. It is not easy to handle the pressure of playing international cricket. Playing for an IPL franchise is different, but things are completely different in international cricket as there are a lot of eyeballs on you.”

Umran Malik was in a sublime form with the ball in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). Playing for SunRisers Hyderabad, he picked up 22 wickets from 14 games and finished as the team’s highest wicket-taker of the season as well. And, the former cricketer has highlighted how Ireland played fearless cricket while chasing a huge total of 225 in the second T20I. He also added that the Irish batters played brilliantly well against Indian bowlers who have done well recently in the IPL.

Danish Kaneria again added: “It takes courage to chase a target like 225 in T20 cricket. Ireland played with a lot of confidence and entertained us with their batting. They were up against some quality Indian bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, Axar Patel, and Harshal Patel. These are the bowlers who have proved their mettle in the IPL.”

Kaneria further added that the Indian management made the correct choice by giving Bishnoi an opportunity in the second T201 as well. While speaking on his Youtube channel, Kaneria said: “India had won the first game and could played the same XI. However, they did the right thing by giving Ravi Bishnoi a chance. The team management wants to keep players like Bishnoi ready for the future. They know that he is a match-winner and we have seen that in the IPL.”

“Ravi Bishnoi looks to bowl quicker through the air. What really surprised me was that he bowled a no-ball. Being a spinner, you cannot do that. He has a very big delivery stride and needs to shorten that,” Danish Kaneria concluded. “Hardik Pandya should be praised for giving the final over to Umran Malik. He could have bowled the crucial over himself as well. But he chose Malik as he wanted to give Malik some confidence. However, I feel that Pandya should have also given the new ball to Malik in this game.”
