West Indies head coach Daren Sammy extended his heartfelt gratitude to the BCCI for their warm hospitality and to India head coach Gautam Gambhir for sharing his insights with the Caribbean team following India’s 2-0 Test series win. India dominated the series, claiming a comprehensive innings-and-140-run victory in Ahmedabad and sealing the second Test by seven wickets on the fifth day at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Sammy personally invited Gambhir to the West Indies dressing room, emphasising the value of “a different voice” to inspire players. Gambhir, in turn, commended the West Indies squad for their humility and grounded approach, highlighting qualities that other teams could emulate.

Throughout the series, Sammy was candid about the financial constraints facing West Indies cricket, citing the impact on both operations and player morale. Captain Roston Chase echoed similar concerns, pointing to inadequate facilities as a hurdle. Cricket legends Brian Lara, Sir Viv Richards, and Richie Richardson visited the Delhi Test to support and motivate the squad, underscoring the importance of mentorship and experience.

After returning from India, the West Indies squad is set to travel to Bangladesh for a three-match ODI and three-match T20I series, starting Saturday at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka. The team hopes to leverage lessons from India, focusing on tactical improvements, player development, and building resilience in challenging conditions ahead of their next international assignment.
This visit has strengthened ties between the two cricket boards and showcased the value of cross-team learning in modern international cricket.
