Former Australia coach Darren Lehmann showered praises on the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, saying that the latter wants to win the game and he is always willing to push more for a win which the hallmark of great players. Kohli reached Australia from Dubai but the India captain will only play 1 Test, the opening day-night fixture in Adelaide, apart from the limited-overs series.

The Indian skipper will be coming back to India to be with his wife and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma for the birth of their child. As per the quotes in PTI, talking to Sydney Herald about Virat, Lehmann said, “That’s just the way he plays; he plays full of energy and doesn’t want to lose.”

Darren Lehman also recalled the closely-fought 2017 Test series between India and Australia to point out Virat Kohli’s fighting spirit.

FOrmer coach elaborated, “He always pushes the boundaries, but that’s what great players do. He wants to win every game. That was one of the more fiery ones [2017 series] going around in recent years.”

Former Australia skipper, Greg Chappell said that Virat Kohli was one of the best players in the world. Former Indian coach also said that Kohli is one of the most influential cricketing inthe modern-era of the game. 

Describing the same, Greg Chappell said, “I think he’s certainly one of the best players and one of the most influential players in world cricket at the moment. He has strong views, he’s quite happy to speak those views, he’s quite happy to put himself out there and back himself to back up his words.”

Border-Gavaskar Trophy is scheduled to be commencing with a day-night match at the Adelaide Oval on December 17, followed by Tests at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (December 26), the Sydney Cricket Ground (January 7) and the Gabba (January 15).
