Former West Indies captain Darren Sammy has spoken up about racism and voiced himself in protest of it. The West Indies all-rounder’s words came after the death of George Floyd which has caused massive outrage United States and on social media.
An African-American George Floyd was in police custody. George Floyd, aged 46, died after a police officer named Derek Chauvin held him down with a knee on his neck. The man pleaded, “I can’t breathe,” and “please, I can’t breathe”.

Violent protests erupted across the USA after footage of the same became public. In the wake of the same, Darren Sammy has urged the cricketing world to speak out against the racism with a series of Tweets.
“Right now if the cricket world not standing against the injustice against people of color after seeing that last video of that foot down the next of my brother you are also part of the problem,” Sammy tweeted.

Sammy says how racism is not just to America. He adds its is a part of daily life and has asked ICC and other cricket boards to raise their voices.

The West Indian questioned, “@ICC and all the other boards are you guys not seeing what’s happening to ppl like me? Are you not gonna speak against the social injustice against my kind?’ This is not only about America. This happens every day #BlackLivesMatter now is not the time to be silent. I wanna hear u,” Sammy added.

He concluded with, “For too long black people have suffered. I’m all the way in St Lucia and I’m frustrated. If you see me as a teammate then you see #GeorgeFloyd. Can you be part of the change by showing your support. #BlackLivesMatter.”
