During the fifth ODI of South Africa’s tour of UAE in 2013, AB de Villiers scored his 15th ODI hundred against Pakistan at Sharjah. The match was a dead-rubber as South Africa had defeated Pakistan by 28 runs in the fourth ODI at Abu Dhabi to earn a 3-1 lead in the five-match ODI series.
de Villiers, who was also leading the side, had earlier won the toss and chose to bat. He came in to bat at No. 5 in the 16th over after the fall of JP Duminy (2). de Villiers ended up scoring 115* (102) with the help of 10 fours and three sixes. Without much support from the other end, South Africa could only manage 268-7 in 50 overs.
With bowling figures of 10-0-45-3, Saeed Ajmal was the pick of the Pakistani bowlers. Pakistan failed to show any resilience as they were dismissed on 151 in 35.3 overs. Sohaib Maqsood, 53 (65), with the help of seven fours, was the highest run-scorer for Pakistan.
For South Africa, Wayne Parnell had picked up three wickets, whereas Duminy, Ryan McLaren and Vernon Philander clinched a couple of wickets apiece.
