In the ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers, a Group A match was played between Sri Lanka and Namibia on Monday, which Sri Lanka won by seven wickets in a one-sided affair. Sri Lanka won the toss and asked Namibia to bat first and bundled out Namibia for just 96 runs. During the first innings, captain Dasun Shanaka took a stunning one-handed catch, and it was a bit difficult to believe that he completed the catch.

Shanaka took the catch of Ruben Trumpelman off Dushmanta Chameera in the 19th over of the first innings. On the third ball of the over, Dasun Shankar took a blinder. Chameera delivered another short one and it hurled at Trumpelmann. The batter was late on the pull and this time the ball lobbed just over and to the right of the bowler. But Shanaka ran from extra cover with an outstretched right hand and took it just above the ground and finished with the slide.

Not only this catch, but the reaction of fans present in the stadium on this catch is also becoming very viral, this video has been shared by the ICC on its official social media handle. At one point it seemed that this catch would drop in front of the fielder of cover, but everyone was stunned to see the speed with which this low catch was taken. There are four teams each in Group-A and Group-B, the top two teams each from both the groups will reach the Super 12.

After the match, Dasun Shanaka said, “We were planning quite a lot. We want to get through this qualifying stage. He has been training with Ajantha Mendis back home and has a lot more to offer in the future. Our fast bowlers earlier had the pace but not the execution but going forward you can see a lot of good things. Winning all three games will definitely put us in a good state of mind, adjusting to conditions will help in the main tournament.”
