Warner, who was captaining Sunrisers Hyderabad when the IPL 2021 began in India in early 2021. He wasn’t in a good form with the bat and SRH also lost a string of matches forcing the franchise to hand the captaincy to Kane Williamson in mid-season while Warner was dropped from the playing XI.

When IPL 2021 returned for the second leg in the UAE, Warner was back in the playing XI while Williamson was still leading the side. After failing again in a few matches in the league, he was again dropped from the playing XI.

Warner, who led SRH to the IPL title back in 2016, feels he will be a part of the auction pool next year and is looking for a fresh start.

“I will put my name in the auction. By the signs of the recent IPL, I won’t be retained by the Sunrisers, so I’m looking forward to a fresh start,” Warner told SEN radio.

“I kind of laughed at the reasoning, that two guys were hitting the ball out of the middle a little bit better than I was. Given that when you’re playing the game you’re playing the scenario,” he said.

“Obviously, there are a lot of moving parts around there. What you have to do as a professional athlete is take it on the chin do everything you can for the team. Not being able to go there, run drinks, and be around was when it sort of hit home that it could be personal, and I’m still yet to get those answers,” he added.

The IPL 2022 will see the entry of two new teams with the matches going from 60 to 74 from the next year. Lucknow and Ahmedabad will be the two new teams and will join the eight other teams in the league.
