The veteran Australian opener, David Warner is a shadow of his past records when he decided to go the aggressive way and he looked ready to have banter on the field with the opposition. This new version of the left-handed opener, after getting banned owing to the ball-tampering scandal, smiled at young Naseem Shah who tried to sledge him in the ongoing first Test in Rawalpindi.

Openers Usman Khawaja and David Warner made a brilliant partnership of 156 runs for the opening wicket as the Aussies began their effort to revamp after Pakistan’s first innings score of 476/4d. David Warner was the first Australian wicket to fall, as he fell for 68 runs in 114 balls with 12 fours to his name, to Sajid Khan, who clean bowled the Australian opener.

Australian batters had a clear advantage over the Pakistani willow men, as they scored at over 4 runs per over when compared to Pakistanis, who batted with a below-par run rate of 2.93 in their 162-over innings. David Warner had a fun outing with his bat batting against Pakistan as he had an unbeaten triple century in Tests against them and has a Test average in excess of 100 against Pakistan.

David Warner, who had been actively interacting with the spectators whilst fielding at the boundary on the first couple of days, continued to be a source of amazement for fans with the bat in hand. He continued him enjoying his outing at the pitch. While Warner shared a few light moments with fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, the duo appreciated one another’s skills with the bat and ball respectively.

However, things weren’t just limited to being light-hearted on the part of Naseem Shah. Shah, who was doing good against Warner, especially with the short ball on a few occasions, didn’t refrain from sledging the left-handed batter. While the Warner of the old would have returned the favor with a verbal banter of his own, this new form of the opener, just laughed and smiled at the teenage pacer’s effort to have a verbal duel with the veteran.
