During the pre-match press conference before the third Test against Pakistan, Warner expressed his distress over the missing Baggy Greens and mentioned that he had checked CCTV footage from his team hotel and the airline QANTAS but without success.

However, during the course of the match, Warner was pleasantly surprised to receive his Baggy Greens back in a backpack. Cricket Australia later disclosed that the bag was discovered outside the team hotel, adding a twist to the mystery. During the post-match press conference, Warner jokingly remarked that he wished he had orchestrated such a prank himself.

“You’re going to have to ask security. I wish I’d played a prank like that. You’ll have to ask Frank [Dimasi] or Stu Bailey [security staff]. I literally got it handed to me, and there was nothing [said to me]. That’s legitimate,” said David Warner.

Despite the off-field drama, Warner bid farewell to Test cricket on a high note, contributing a resilient 57 in his final innings. This innings played a crucial role in Australia’s successful chase, securing an 8-wicket victory over Pakistan and a series whitewash.

While he fell short of carrying his bat through the innings, Warner’s farewell was marked by a fairytale half-century, celebrated with a subdued acknowledgment.
