Meanwhile, Team India’s build-up to the high-stakes series has been challenging. After enduring a historic Test series whitewash against New Zealand at home, India is grappling with form and fitness issues among key players.
Fast bowler Mohammed Shami recently returned to competitive cricket after a prolonged absence but remains outside the original squad for the Tests. Shubman Gill is set to miss the series opener due to a thumb fracture sustained during a match simulation, while KL Rahul had a brief injury scare after being hit on the elbow. Reports have also emerged about Virat Kohli undergoing scans for an unspecified injury, though no official confirmation has been made.
