In a heartwarming gesture, Delhi Capitals opener David Warner captured the internet’s attention during an IPL encounter against the Rajasthan Royals on May 7. Despite not making the playing XI, Warner was seen engaging in a warm exchange with two ball boys near the boundary line, showcasing his affable nature and appreciation for their contribution to the game.
Taking to Instagram, Warner shared a glimpse of the endearing interaction through a series of photographs. In one image, he is depicted shaking hands with a young ball boy, who gazes at the cricketer with admiration. Another picture portrays Warner seated beside another ball boy, engaged in what appears to be a lighthearted conversation, epitomizing the camaraderie shared between players and support staff.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to connect with young cricket enthusiasts, Warner penned a heartfelt caption accompanying the post. “It’s been great to speak to the young kids who help us retrieve the balls when hit to the boundary. A stalwart of the IPL since his debut in 2009, Warner boasts an illustrious record, having amassed 6564 runs in 183 matches. However, the 2024 season has seen the Australian struggle to replicate his usual form, mustering only 167 runs in seven outings. Consequently, he found himself on the bench during Delhi Capitals’ crucial fixture against the Rajasthan Royals.
Despite Warner’s absence, Delhi Capitals emerged victorious, overcoming Rajasthan by 20 runs, with Kuldeep Yadav clinching the Player of the Match award for his stellar bowling performance (2/25).
