The fall of wicket did not affect Kohli much as he was normal in his proceedings. He stitched a 129-run partnership for the second wicket with Shikhar Dhawan (73). He then shared a 110-run partnership with Suresh Raina (74).

Pakistan lost wickets at regular intervals, which hampered their chase to the effect that they ended up losing the match by 76 runs. Misbah-ul-Haq, who came in to bat at No. 4, top-scored with 76 (84), with the help of nine fours and a six.

Amongst the Indian bowlers, Mohammad Shami (9-0-35-4) was the best of the lot.
