Exactly six years ago, Virat Kohli scored his ninth ODI century against Sri Lanka at Hobart as India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in a dominating way. The innings came during the 11th match of the Commonwealth Bank Series after MS Dhoni, the then Indian captain, had won the toss and chose to field.

On the back of individual centuries from Tillakaratne Dilshan (160*) and Kumar Sangakkara (105), Sri Lanka scored 320-4 in 50 overs. With bowling figures of 9-0-43-1, Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the Indian bowlers.
To stay alive in the series, India had to win the match with a bigger margin. Citing the same thing in mind, Kohli took on the opposition bowlers from the word go. He ended up scoring 133* (86) with the help of 16 fours & two sixes as India scored 321-3 in 36.4 overs. Known for his ability to restrict the batsmen, Lasith Malinga went for 96 runs in 7.4 overs.
