DDCA director Shyam Sharma gives latest update on Rishabh Pant’s recovery

Shyam Sharma and Harish Singla, the directors of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) committee recently visited the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and they met Rishabh Pant. As per Shyam Sharma, Pant, who is undergoing rehabilitation for injuries that he sustained in a car accident late last year, is doing well and recovering at a good pace as well. However, Pant underwent knee surgery early this year and because of that, he got ruled out for an indefinite period.

“He is doing well in his recovery, and now he is a lot better. There is a big question about his comeback as it takes time, but I hope he will be back on the field as soon as possible,” Shyam said, as quoted by the Times of India (TOI).

However, on December 30 last year, Rishabh Pant, driving back to his home in Dehradun from Delhi, met with a horrific car accident. His car hit the roadside dividers and rolled over a couple of times, causing it to catch fire as well. Pant was saved by the local people and he was taken immediately to a nearby hospital before being shifted to Max Hospital in Dehradun as well. And, after spending more than a week in Dehradun, Pant was airlifted to Mumbai for further treatment, where he underwent knee surgery as well.

However, he was suggested complete bed rest after the surgery and that is why he missed all the tournaments this year so far, including the home series against Sri Lanka, and New Zealand, the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia, IPL 2023and the World Test Championship Final as well. And, he is likely to miss the home World Cup in October-November as well.
