Former Indian wicket-keeper, Deep Dasgupta reckons that the Aussies don’t want the visitors to focus on their weaknesses and are thus coming up with off-field controversies in the lead up to the 3rd Test. During a recent chat on Sports Today, Dasgupta said that the off-field issues will fall in favor of e Team India as they are having the confidence of winning the 2nd Test and leveling the series at 1-1 in Melbourne.

There has been a lot of chatter about the alleged bio-bubble breach involving 5 Indian cricketers, including Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant. Also, former Australian cricketers and a couple of Queensland shadow ministers have come up with a reaction that was uncalled for over some unverified reports of India wanting the fourth and final Test to be moved out of Brisbane due to potentially stricter bio-bubble protocols.

While the Indian team confirming about no breach of the protocol, Cricket Australia’s interim CEO Nick Hockley on Monday quashed speculations of India being in favor of moving the 4th Test away from Brisbane.

A section of the Australian media also alleged Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya for breaking the bio-secure protocols following their visit to a baby store in Sydney during the limited-overs series. However, Deep Das Gupta believes Australia and its captain Tim Paine are under tremendous pressure after having lost the Boxing Day Test despite India playing without their full-strength XI.

Explaining his opinion, Dasgupta said, “That’s what they want. They want us not to focus on the Australian team. David Warner is not a 100 percent fit. He has told the world about it in a press conference. But they are pushing him. That’s how hard-pressed the Australian side is. Steve Smith is not scoring runs. Marnus Labuschagne is looking different. Let’s do that now, focus on the Australian side.”

He further added, “I don’t know what the result will be. India can go on to win, they might lose the next 2. But these incidents will again galvanise the team further. I think they will get a lot closer after the incident. This will only help the team get together. Tim Paine is under tremendous pressure. They almost have their full side and they have to win this.”
