Former Indian wicket-keeper batter, Deep Dasgupta reckons that Rajasthan Royals (RR) failed to utilize the services of a death overs specialist in the last overs of the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Dasgupta reckons that RR skipper, Sanju Samson made a blunder by giving a ball to inexperienced bowler Kuldip Yadav to bowl in the penultimate over.

Elaborating the same, Deep Dasgupta said, “The biggest talking point would be the utilization of Obed McCoy. For the 19th over, you have got Obed McCoy, who is a death-over specialist. He doesn’t bowl the 19th or the 20th over. The 19th over was the crucial one, and you get a youngster to come in and bowl. That was baffling. I thought it would be either Sandeep Sharma or Obed.”

Sanju Samson gave a ball to young fast bowler, Kuldip Yadav to bowl the 19th over of the innings. Glenn Phillips scored a hat-trick of sixes and a four before being dismissed on the fifth ball of the over. The SRH smashed 24 crucial runs in the penultimate over when they required 41 runs in the final couple of overs to win the match.
