Deepak Chahar Dismisses Wanindu Hasaranga With A Brilliant Yorker

The Indian fast bowler, Deepak Chahar had conceded more than the expected amount of runs in his first spell in the ongoing second ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Tuesday. However, he recovered exceptionally well to finish with three wickets. The right-arm bowler’s dismissal of Wanindu Hasaranga was the one capturing attention as he outsmarted the batsman brilliantly. Sri Lanka lost Hasaranga at a crucial phase.

The dismissal came in the 40th over of the first innings when Deepak Chahar delivered a slow yorker-length delivery. However, Wanindu Hasaranga failed to judge the ball properly and as a result, his bat didn’t come down in time and the ball went past to clatter the stumps. Wanindu Hasaranga departed for eight off 11 deliveries, while Chahar finished with bowling figures of 8-0-53-2.

Sri Lanka, who finished the first innings of the first ODI with the score of 262 on Sunday in the series opener, went a step ahead to rack up 275, setting the tourists 276 to win the series. The hosts had a brilliant start as they stitched a 77-run partnership for the first wicket, however, quick wickets and the Indian spinners’ performance pegged them back.

But Charith Asalanka’s 65 and Chamika Karunaratne’s knock of 44 took them to a reasonably good total. The Indian leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal was India’s best bowler, ending with figures of 10-1-50-3, while Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar snared five scalps between them. India is currently leading the series as they chased Sri Lanka’s 262 in the first ODI with seven wickets and with more than 13 overs to spare.

Eventually in the first innings of teh second ODI Sri Lanka reached a total of 275 in their quota of 50 overs.
