Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder, Deepak Chahar said that there’s no guarantee that 2023 would witness MS Dhoni for the last and final time in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Last year, Dhoni said ‘definitely’ when asked about whether he will be coming back to play in the 2023 edition of the tournament.
Dhoni started playing in the IPL back in 2008 and has represented the Super Kings in 13 seasons. When CSK was banned for a couple of years, the now 41-year-old plied his trade for the Rising Pune Super Giants for two seasons.
During a recent chat with New India Sports, Deepak Chahar said, “No one has said that this would be his final year. At least, he hasn’t. Hopefully, he will play more. We don’t know any such thing, we want him to play as much as he can.”

Back in December 2014, Dhoni bid adieu to Test cricket after the Melbourne Test on Australian soil. Thereafter, in August 2020, the Jharkhand-born cricketer took to his Instagram account to announce his retirement from international cricket.
Deepak Chahar, who has been a part of CSK since 2018, said that Dhoni doesn’t need to be told when to retire. The speedster also mentioned that he is honored to ply his trade under the captaincy of Dhoni, who has four IPL titles, two Champions League T20 titles, and three ICC trophies to his name.

Explaining the same, Deepak Chahar said, “He knows when to retire, we saw it when he did in Tests and international cricket. No one else knows. I just hope he continues to play, it’s a privilege to play under him. It has been a dream to play with him. He’s in good touch as well, you will see that when he bats in the IPL this year.”
MS Dhoni has already joined the CSK training camp and is set to take the field when his team locks horns with defending champions Gujarat Giants in the opening match of IPL 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
