With a crucial match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) looming, a few Mumbai Indians (MI) players took time off for a spiritual visit to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Deepak Chahar, and Karn Sharma, along with their respective spouses—Suryakumar’s wife Devisha Shetty and Chahar’s wife Jaya—were seen in images from their temple visit.

The MI squad had arrived in Lucknow on Wednesday, and with Ayodhya just a 2-hour-40-minute drive away, the players seemingly made the most of their time before gearing up for their IPL 2025 encounter. Coming off a shaky start to the season with back-to-back losses, Mumbai Indians bounced back strongly in their last game, registering a dominant eight-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Suryakumar Yadav, returning to the side, made an instant impact with an unbeaten 27 off just nine balls, finishing the chase in style. However, it was South African batter Ryan Rickelton’s steady 62* off 41 balls that anchored Mumbai’s innings as they chased down a modest 117-run target with ease.

Suryakumar’s brilliance wasn’t just about power-hitting—it was about making a statement. One of his shots against Andre Russell left even experts in awe, showcasing why he remains a key asset for Mumbai. Adding to his achievements, the flamboyant batter also crossed the 8,000-run milestone in T20 cricket, further cementing his reputation as one of the format’s modern greats.

Despite their win against KKR, MI’s IPL 2025 campaign remains in a precarious position, with just one victory from three matches. Similarly, Lucknow Super Giants find themselves in the same boat, making their upcoming clash all the more crucial. With both teams needing to build momentum, the match could come down to who adapts better to the conditions.

The Ekana Stadium pitch has been a topic of discussion, with teams struggling to find consistency due to the unpredictability of the surfaces. If the pitch behaves similarly, powerplay performances could determine the outcome. Eyes will also be on Mumbai’s Ashwani Kumar, who impressed on debut against KKR with four wickets, as he looks to replicate his success against LSG.
