Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) shared a hilarious meme in which they compared their star wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant with one of the characters in the Oscar-nominated Bollywood movie, ‘Lagaan’ on the film’s 20-year anniversary. The official Twitter handle of DC posted a picture comparing the astrologer Guran — to Pant, due to Guran’s unorthodox batting style.

Delhi Capitals captioned the picture as, “#20YearsOfLagaan, an audacious legacy lives on #Lagaan @RishabhPant17.” The Ashutosh Gowariker-directed Lagaan involved a cricket match that had unorthodox players taking the field against an experienced English side. The same unorthodox nature of batting was compared with Pant’s audacious reverse-scoop against James Anderson which he played earlier this year.

The movie, which was nominated for Oscars, completed two decades ago and it had a stupendous cast that included Aamir Khan and Gracy Singh as lead characters. Some veteran actors like Rajesh Vivek, Pradeep Rawat, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Rajendra Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, and British actors Paul Blackthorne and Rachel Shelley.

DC finished with six wins out of the eight matches that were completed and they were also standing at the top of the point table of IPL 201 before the suspension of the points table.
