Fielding in cricket extends beyond merely stopping the ball; it’s about saving runs and exerting pressure on the opposition. However, in the clash between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore, the former faltered in this aspect, plagued by a series of dropped catches and sloppy fielding.

Despite winning the toss, Delhi Capitals’ fielding woes surfaced early as they managed to dismiss RCB’s openers, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, within the powerplay. However, the duo of Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar capitalized on the visitors’ poor fielding, steadying Bengaluru’s innings to reach 87/2 in eight overs.

The fielding nightmare commenced in the ninth over, bowled by Kuldeep Yadav, as Axar Patel and Shai Hope grassed straightforward catches, visibly frustrating the Indian spinner. The woes continued when Tristan Stubbs missed an elementary chance in the 10th over, allowing Will Jacks a reprieve.

Adding to the misery, Delhi’s stand-in skipper dropped another catch, granting Patidar yet another lifeline at cover. In the span of three overs, the home side squandered four easy catches, compounding their fielding woes. The Capitals’ uncharacteristic display of poor fielding left cricket enthusiasts on Twitter in disbelief.
