Delhi Capitals (DC) witnessed a bad start to their matchday with one of their net bowlers testing positive for Covid-19 ahead of the crunch game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The latest reports of the Indian Express suggest that they have decided to isolate the player along with another bowler who was sharing a room with him.
As per protocols of the BCCI for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), Delhi Capitals will have to undergo another round of testing and till then all members of the DC contingent have been isolated in their rooms. DC is scheduled to lock horns with the CSK today evening at DY Patil Stadium for their league game at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
Currently, Delhi is standing at fifth place in the IPL points table and they have won five games and lost as many games as well. Last month, DC foreign players – Tim Seifert and Mitchell Marsh – and four of their support staff members had tested positive for Covid-19.

DC is the only team that has witnessed Covid 19 cases in their camp in IPL 202 and it has resulted in a change of schedule and venue. The match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings (PBKS) was earlier scheduled to be played at Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium was moved to Brabourne Stadium on Tuesday.
Despite all the fuss around their Covid-19 spreading inside the camp, the Delhi Capitals have managed to keep their hopes alive for the playoffs after a stupendous performance against SRH in the previous game.
This was done to avoid any further transmission of the virus due to any undetected case during a long-distance bus journey in a closed environment. In a statement regarding the same, the BCCI said, “The change of venue has been triggered due to (then) five COVID-19 positive cases in the Delhi Capitals contingent.”
