Rajasthan Royals (RR) started the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 campaign IPL with a couple of resounding victories over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. In both matches, they scored in excess of 200 and looked like a team on a mission. However, the tables have turned on them ever since then. The Royals have lost four matches in a row and are standing at the bottom of the table.
On Friday, RR suffered a loss against the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 46 runs in Sharjah after failing to chase down 185. Electing to field first, the Royals restricted the Capitals to 184. But in the run-chase, they flattered to deceive.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Steve Smith, and Rahul Tewatia scored in the 20s and 30s, but it wasn’t enough for RR to get over the line. Going back to September 29, the Royals had trolled the Capitals, though indirectly.

Around 11 days later, the fortunes have turned around for both the franchises. Even as the Royals are standing at the seventh position on the points table with two wins from six matches, the Capitals are the current table-toppers with five victories from their first six games. After Friday’s victory, they also managed to overhaul Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI), who have four wins, to the top.
