Delhi Crowd Fight Breaks Out During India vs Afghanistan World Cup Match

India continued their winning run in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 as they defeated Afghanistan by eight wickets on Wednesday, October 11 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Captain Rohit Sharma starred with the bat with his record-breaking hundred as he helped India chase down the target of 273 in 35 overs.

Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and elected to bat first. However, his openers failed to vindicate his decision as they were left reeling at 63/3 after 13.1 overs. Seeing his team in trouble, captain Shahidi (80 off 88) got involved in a massive 121-run partnership off 127 balls for the fourth wicket with Azmatullah Omarzai (62 off 69).

Courtesy of their massive partnership and some contribution from the lower order, Afghanistan managed to reach the total of 272/8 in their allotted 50 overs. Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball for India as he registered figures of 4/49 in ten overs while Hardik Pandya also picked up 2/43 in his seven-over spell.

In reply, India got off to a terrific start as openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan got involved in a massive partnership of 156 off 112 balls. Rohit went on to shatter record books during his breathtaking knock of 131 off 84 balls with the help of 16 fours and five sixes. On the other hand, Kishan also played a brilliant knock of 47 off 47 smashing five fours and two sixes in his innings.

 

Virat Kohli also continued his sensational form scoring an unbeaten 55* off 56 balls smashing six fours in his innings. Courtesy of their marvelous innings, India chased the target of 273 in just 35 overs and won the match by eight wickets. Rohit was deservedly adjudged Player of the Match for his breathtaking innings.

Rohit Sharma’s century was a masterclass in batting. He was in complete control of his innings from the start and played some breathtaking shots. He reached his century in just 84 balls, which is the fastest century by an Indian captain in World Cups.

India’s performance in the match was dominant. They bowled Afghanistan out for 272 in 50 overs and then chased down the target in just 35 overs. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave India a flying start with a 156-run partnership. Virat Kohli also continued his good form with an unbeaten half-century.
