Padikkal has enjoyed an impressive year so far. He began 2024 with a century and an 86 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, playing a pivotal role in Karnataka’s title triumph. His consistent form extended into the IPL, where he had a promising stint with Royal Challengers Bengaluru before a hamstring injury forced him to withdraw mid-season, with Mayank Agarwal replacing him.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Padikkal stressed the importance of staying focused and grabbing every chance that comes his way.
“Every game that you play for India is crucial. With a few home Test series lined up, I’m looking forward to performing in the A series to stake my claim,” Devdutt Padikkal said. “I really enjoy red-ball cricket, and the more opportunities I get, the better.”

After months of recovery, the 24-year-old returned to competitive cricket this week, scoring a solid 57-run knock for South Zone in the Duleep Trophy semifinal against North Zone.

“This tournament was very important for me. I hadn’t played much red-ball cricket in recent times, so this was about regaining rhythm and confidence,” he added.
